PUBLIC NOTICE

CITY OF MANZANITA ELECTIONS

Election materials are available for City residents interested in running for the offices of Mayor or City Councilor of Manzanita. The Mayor position has a two (2) year term of office beginning January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2028. The two City Councilor positions both have four (4) year terms of office beginning January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2030. All positions are elected from the city at large.

The first day for candidates to file is June 3, 2026.

To qualify, candidates must have resided within the city limits of Manzanita for at least twelve (12) months immediately prior to the date of the election, which is November 3, 2026, and be a registered voter. Visit ci.manzanita.or.us for more information.

returned to the city recorder’s office no later than 4:00pm Thursday August 6, 2026

General Election 2026 Information

Available Seats:
Mayor: this is a two-year term ending December 31, 2028.
City Council: 2 seats: both seats are four-year terms, ending December 31, 2030.

June 3, 2026 – First day for candidates to file.
August 6, 2026 – Recommended last day to submit signatures to the city for verification.
August 28, 2026 – Last day for a candidate to withdraw.
November 3, 2026 – Election Day.

  1.  Qualifications:
    -Candidates must have resided within the city limits of Manzanita for at least twelve (12) months
    immediately prior to the date of the election, which is November 3, 2026.
    -Candidates must be registered to vote.
  2. Complete Forms: (forms can be completed at the appointment time (see #3))
    -Candidate Filing Form (SEL101) – all positions are nonpartisan.
    -Candidate Signature Sheet (SEL121). Complete the top section only, do not start gathering signatures. Petition ID will be issued by City Recorder.
  3. Contact the city to arrange an approval appointment:

    -Bring your SEL101 and SEL121 for approval before gathering signatures. The city recorder will review the forms and provide written approval to circulate for signatures. Failure to receive approval before circulating will result in the rejection of the signature sheets.
  4. After receiving approval from the city recorder, use the signature sheets to collect 20 valid signatures. It is recommended that you obtain 10-15% more than the required number of signatures.
  5. Return signature sheets to City Hall and Petition Submission Form (SEL388) by August 6, 2026, to ensure time for county verification
